Starting a couple of days ago, Baby T has been experimenting with new sounds. He has been cooing and making noises that sound like "ggggggggghhhhhheeeeehhhh eeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeee" for a long time, but he is now starting to play with more consonants. Traditionally, babbling is 'Bababababa', or 'Dadadadada' or some other repetitive combo of consonants and vowels. So far, Tressan has said 'Bah' and 'Da'. Bob reports that today T said 'Bababa'. And so begins true language! It's extremely cool to see how attentive he is to the sounds we can make and how our mouths are moving to make those sounds.
Starting around 3 months or so, Tressan has enjoyed looking at books-- at least some of the time. He actually will help turn the pages of his board books, but he often gets impatient with sitting still and not interacting with us face to face. However, I have read him "The Runaway Bunny" a few times this week and he seems enthralled with the large, boldly colored illustrations.
Breastfeeding has been a source of real joy for me, for many reasons. Nevertheless, it is not without its challenges. I am fortunate and blessed to have a mother who is a lactation consultant, and an extremely knowledgeable, patient, and supportive one at that! She has helped me out with questions and problems so many times over the last 4.5 months. Thanks Mom!! Since returning to work at the beginning of July my milk production has gone down substantially, causing all three of us (me, Bob and T) a fair amount of stress. We tried a number of things to rectify this, and two weeks ago I ordered domperidone, a safe but non-FDA approved drug, from Vanuatu. Oddly enough, my brother-in-law's parents lived in Port Vila, Vanuatu for the last 3 years and just left this week! I'm betting they probably know the proprietor.
Anyway, the domperidone arrived on Saturday (I guess Vanuatu Time isn't as crazy-slow as Fiji Time), and already I have seen a large increase in my supply. Just a tip to keep in mind for any new moms, future moms, or people who love someone who falls into one of those first 2 categories! Plus, the domperidone pills are about one fiftieth a size of those fenugreek pills that I have also been trying, and they don't make you smell like maple.
Here is our sweet boy in a picture taken yesterday morning.

Such a very sweet boy.
