Asa is 4 months old!

Our littlest one is getting bigger! Big smiles and laughs now...

And Happy Easter in the midst of our collective covid-19 quarantine. We celebrated today from home, joining our Good Samaritan congregation for a Facebook Live service. This was after Easter basket opening and a hearty breakfast of Portuguese Easter breads, almond poppyseed muffins and scrambled eggs. Egg hunt for the two big kids still to come...

He is getting more patient as he learns to trust us to meet his needs... just this morning he happily took Easter pictures for 10 or 15 minutes right after his nap, before nursing.

Asa's newest tricks are grabbing objects with both hands (usually so that he can bite them), rolling partway over from his stomach, and as of earlier this week, blowing very enthusiastic, very wet raspberries for us. Once, at 3:30 a.m.! 😂

Asa's sleep is not quite as good as it was a month ago, partly due to some changes in my milk supply most likely, and partly because he recently transitioned from being swaddled to being in his fluffy sleep sack. He is waking up a few times a night to nurse but is usually fine to be put back in his cradle  whenever I drowsily notice that he is done. Overall, Bob and I are getting plenty of rest.

Mindful of the fact that many of our brothers and sisters around the world are anxious, suddenly unemployed, lonely, sick or even dying, and missing our friends and family ourselves, still we are finding the silver lining to what one article called The Great Pause. There is an undeniable sweetness and ease to our days as a small family, carefully cooking, baking and eating so as not to waste food, keeping our home clean, and being mindful of each family member getting the exercise and time in nature that she or he needs. The time we normally spend commuting, shopping, and getting somewhat more dressed up for work or school is now reallocated for rest, time together, or more leisurely meals. We hope to carry what are learning into our family life in years to come.

The arm rolls!

Getting sleeping during the Easter service...

And asleep.
