Over the last two weeks his fussiness has dropped considerably- he still tends to be fussy between about 5-8 pm, but more often than not he is ok with just being held with a pacifier, rather than needing to be swaddled or walking with me in a tight stretchy wrap, to calm down.
Asa is getting more conversational, enjoying cooing and taking turns 'talking' with us while making animated facial expressions- so sweet! He lets us know when he needs a diaper change and always seems happy right after he gets a fresh diaper. He also can let me know pretty easily when he is hungry by bobbing his head around and making a cough-like cry. When he does not want to eat, he pushes himself away from me and makes a mad face- message clearly received!
He enjoys baths quite a bit.
He does not really like tummy time, and still doesn't lift his head up very high, but he can move it to either side when he wants to. On his back, he bats at the toys hanging above him in his activity gym.
He loves looking at trees out the window and when outside, and he also likes looking at the lights on the ceiling of our living room.
He often naps in his baby swing.
Tressan has nicknamed him Asa McBaby, and sings him "Asa the baby Basa!" He loves to give Asa a kiss goodnight and comments frequently on how cute he is, or how "tiny and chunky!" he is.
Typical schedule:
7-7:30 wake up with Mama, play happily and get changed into day clothes. Smiles.
8 or 8:30 starts to get sleepy and ready for first morning nap, usually about 45 mins
10 or 10:30 second morning nap, usually 1 hr or so
Then we hang out, look out the window, do some tummy time which Asa is not much of a fan of right now, do some back time, chat, listen to music, hold hands, go outside, snooze until just before 2
1:55 go pick up Tressan and Saskia in the car. Asa is now pretty calm in the car even when alone; I think this is at least partly because he can see things out the window more clearly and is entertained by them
2:10 school is out, Asa is in the Ergo looking around and gets some hello kisses from his sibs. We drive home. Kids play (Tressan often plays wall ball outside), do homework, read
4:00 or 4:30 we go for a walk with the big kids on the Razor scooters that they got for Christmas, and Asa in the Ergo. He is just starting to like his stroller, set at a partial incline, so we may start switching to that.
Bob gets home, we make dinner and eat it, often with Asa at the table for part of the time. Sometimes he hangs out in his Boppy lounger near the table. Fussy time for Asa! Sometimes we give him a bath with either Bob or I holding him.
7:30 or 8 Asa goes to sleep.
Longest block of sleep so far: 5 hours
Typical longest block of sleep: 4 hours, then 2-3 hours, then 1, then fitful sleep starting around 4:30 until wakeup time.
Weight yesterday: 15.0 lb
Longest trip: to Irvine for overnight last weekend
