Our littlest baby is one year old! We are overwhelmed with thankfulness for this tiny one's presence in our family, and so grateful that he is healthy and thriving.
Asa is now walking about ten steps or so at a time- still a bit unsteadily but with increasing confidence. When he topples over, he does it safely. He now sometimes takes only one nap a day in early afternoon.. sometimes he gets super tired around dinner time, naps again, and then is a bit cranky until bedtime.
He continues to love playtime in the bath, being outside- either playing in the backyard or going for a walk in the stroller (most days he does this at least once with Mommy and Daddy each), and hanging out with his siblings. He does not like being blocked by the baby gates from going where he wants to go, driving in the car, or having his diaper changed.
He is not saying much yet beyond 'bath' (and that only when he feels like it..) but sometimes says Mama, truck, ball, shoes, and water.
He is still waking up a few times in the middle of the night, although he is getting his first molars in right now, which may be keeping him up a bit. When he gets tired, he goes into our darkened room and nurses to sleep.
He enjoys books and is slowly getting more interested in reading them than in ripping and biting them! He eats mostly table food now, cut into small pieces. He is fascinated by the garbage trucks, but also pretty nervous about them and other loud noises, including blenders and other kitchen appliances.
We spent three nights in Death Valley NP last weekend. It was such a fun and restful trip- very uncrowded probably in part because of COVID. Asa enjoyed the sights and was very interested in the rocky canyons that we hiked through. We also went to the lowest point in North America- Badwater Basin, and walked around the salt flats. We brought all our meals with us in a cooler and did a lot of relaxing in our hotel room and playing on the hotel grounds (swimming pool, playground, golf course). Tressan and Saskia completed the Junior Rangers program, and were quite proud to earn their badges- delivered in an outdoor courtyard at the Ranger station, with a plexiglass barrier between them and the ranger. Unique times..
