I am working on writing up Tressan's birth story.. It is already starting to fade a bit from my memory, perhaps due to some ingenious birth-related neuropeptide or hormonal action in my brain. I will post it here, probably in a few different sections.
At one week old, Tressan has lost his newborn rash (red spots and some scary pox-looking things on his back, tummy and arms) and the swelling around his eyes from the process of being born is gone. He is still the same goldeny color as when he arrived- maybe like his Grandad Martinez and his cousin Jo! He is eating voraciously, which we are so pleased about--more about breastfeeding in a later post-- and his umbilical stump is still attached but looking pretty ready to fall off.
We love him so much. He smells delicious and gives us the sweetest curious looks when he wakes in the middle of the night. There are a million little details about him that are probably boring to everyone except Bob and I, but which fill us with delight. I guess this is what making a family does to you!
Here are a few pictures from Gran and Grandad Martinez' and Auntie Amy and Uncle James' visit this weekend. How cool to introduce my son to my parents!! (and one of my 3 sisters... ) We are looking forward to Grandma and Grandpa Jones' and Great-grandparents Tinkers' visit in a couple of months when he will meet the other side of his family! It is a beautiful thing to feel the love across several generations-- I think these pictures show that pretty clearly .
Oh my, James Family, reading the stories of your first days together brings me such great joy. Thank you for sharing these insights about growing your family, and for sharing the moments which are so meaningful to you. That makes them very meaningful to me. :) I look forward to meeting Tressan Ambrose James, and seeing you both, you wonderful parents you!
