Wearing Tressan

One of the buzzwords in parenting right now is babywearing, or attaching your baby to you in a wrap, sling or other sort of carrier. The idea is that everyone benefits: the baby hears your heartbeat, feels your warmth, experiences a calming pattern of movement similar to what he felt while in utero, and when a bit older, gets to see all the interesting things going on at adult eye-level as you move around. The parent or wearer gets to do things hands free, go on walks without lugging a stroller or carrier, and gets to feel a snuggly baby against them.

My mom helped me make a stretchy wrap last week (Thanks Mom!!), and we have given it a few tries:

We walked to a farmer's market near our house. T fell asleep after just a few minutes and slept contentedly for the whole outing against Bob's chest.

Yesterday we met up with my parents and I wrapped Tressan up to go out to dinner at Pizza Port.

This is a simpler over-shoulder wrap that offers less support but is easier to put on and transport.

As Tressan gets bigger, we will be able to try out a couple more wraps that I have acquired. Bob and I have tried pretty hard to keep the baby gear under control, but wraps and slings are an exception to that! Tressan seems to be comfortable and relaxed when he's wrapped against us (as long as he's not agitated when we start) and it really is nice to be mobile.
